Projects

This semester, we worked on three major projects—infographics, MS Excel Pivot Tables, and a Decision Support System—which all helped build important skills for understanding and analyzing business information. The infographic assignments taught me how to break down case studies and communicate key ideas visually. The Pivot Table project strengthened my ability to organize and analyze large datasets to answer business questions. The Decision Support assignment helped me apply formulas, charts, and what-if analysis to make informed recommendations. Together, these projects improved my critical-thinking, technical skills, and confidence in using technology to support real-world business decisions.

Throughout the course, we completed several case studies in which we created infographics to visually communicate our understanding of key concepts and solutions. Each infographic required me to analyze a scenario, identify the most important information, and present it in a simple, organized, and visually engaging way. By turning case study findings into graphics, I learned how to summarize complex ideas, highlight essential details, and communicate insights clearly—skills that are valuable in both business and accounting. This assignment helped me strengthen my ability to think critically, organize information effectively, and use visual tools to support decision-making and professional communication. The partnership with my peers worked well.

I learned how to use Microsoft Excel to create multidimensional Pivot Tables that help answer real business questions. while working with various dimensions such as customers, products, and sales representatives, measures such as order amounts, I explored how data can be organized, summarized, and analyzed in meaningful ways. I practiced sorting, filtering, and using slicers to locate the highest-performing products, the best sales rep, and compare the results across different quarters. The assignment taught me how Pivot Tables support real-time business decisions by transforming large datasets into clear insights. It has strengthened my ability to design reporting tools that are reusable, easy to read, and effective for communicating performance results.

In the MS Word Decision Support assignment, I learned how to build a financial model in Excel that helps a business make better decisions. I used formulas, absolute and relative cell references, and charts to calculate important values like cost, markup, price, revenue, and profit. I also learned how to test different “what-if” scenarios by changing input values to see how they affect the business’s profitability. This helped me understand how Decision Support Systems work and how managers use data to analyze options before making choices. Overall, this project taught me how technology and Excel tools can support smarter business decisions.
